At Niemeyer Studio, we craft our jewelry using a selection of premium materials to ensure each piece is beautiful, durable, and ethically made. To help you maintain the quality and longevity of your jewelry, please follow these care instructions specific to the materials we use.

14k Gold Vermeil
Our 14k gold vermeil jewelry is made with a base of sterling silver, coated with a thick layer of 14k gold. This provides the look and feel of solid gold at a more accessible price point. However, the gold layer can wear over time, especially with frequent exposure to moisture, chemicals, and abrasion. To preserve the gold finish, avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, and household cleaning products. Store your jewelry in a dry place when not in use, and consider removing it before engaging in activities that may cause physical wear.

Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is a durable and classic metal, but it can tarnish over time when exposed to air and moisture. To reduce tarnishing, store your sterling silver jewelry in a cool, dry place, ideally in an airtight container. Regularly clean your pieces with a soft cloth to maintain their shine. If tarnishing occurs, use a gentle silver polish or a mild soap solution with lukewarm water to restore the original luster.

Platinum Plating
We use platinum plating to enhance the durability and scratch resistance of our sterling silver pieces. Platinum is a rare and precious metal, and the plating adds an extra layer of protection. However, like all plating, it can wear off over time. To extend the life of the plating, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, and refrain from wearing your jewelry during activities that involve heavy use of your hands or exposure to water.

Moissanite
Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone known for its brilliance and durability, making it an excellent choice for engagement and luxury rings. While moissanite is tough, it still requires care to maintain its sparkle. Clean your moissanite jewelry regularly with lukewarm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristle toothbrush. Avoid exposing the stones to harsh chemicals or abrasive surfaces that could dull their shine.

Cubic Zirconia 
Cubic zirconia is an affordable and ethical alternative to diamonds, offering brilliant sparkle and color. However, CZ stones can become cloudy if exposed to lotions, sweat, or chemicals. To keep your CZ jewelry looking its best, clean it gently with a soft cloth and, if necessary, soak it in a mild soap solution followed by a gentle brushing with a soft-bristle toothbrush.

General Care Tips

Avoid Moisture: Water, humidity, and chemicals can all contribute to tarnishing and wear. Remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, or exercising.
Storage: Store your jewelry in a dry, cool place, preferably in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to prevent scratches and minimize exposure to air and moisture.
Regular Cleaning: Use a jewelry cloth or soft tissue to regularly clean your pieces, removing any residue that may accumulate from everyday wear.
